Everyone knew that something spooky was going on when stepping into the third floor of Founders, the Alumni Development Office, on Tuesday, October 28th. The lights glew with an eerie purple, skeletons hung from the ceiling, and cobwebs stretched across the walls. For that afternoon, the hallway turned into a haunted wonderland filled with laughs, scares, and sweets.
This year’s Halloween setup brought the holiday spirit to life. Students walked through the dimly lit hallway surrounded by glowing pumpkins, fake spiders, and life-sized skeletons. “It actually felt like walking into a haunted house!” Bowie Jacobson ’29 said.
And there was plenty of candy. Tables overflowed with chocolates, gummies, and lollipops, and trays of donuts. The mix of creepy decorations and delicious treats made the occasion a perfect early Halloween experience.
As detailed and lively as the event was, a lot of preparation went into ensuring it was memorable and enjoyable for students.“We spent the whole afternoon setting this up, around 4 hours for the decoration and another 2 hours to make this run,” said mathematics faculty Alejandra Ross, who helped organize the decorations. “We wanted to make sure it felt immersive and fun, something that really showed school spirit and creativity.”
Faculty members’ hard work paid off. Every door and corner had something new to see, from mummified walls to flickering lights that gave the hallway an extra chill. Students stopped to take pictures,
traded candy, and enjoyed the completely altered 3rd floor. As students exited the hallway, two students hid behind doors, jump scaring students one last time.
Beyond the scares and sweets, the event brought people together. Students from different grades joined in the fun, making memories and sharing laughter. It was a break from the usual school routine and a reminder of how creativity can turn something simple into something unforgettable.
As the event came to a close, the decorations slowly came down, but the excitement lingered. Founders’ third floor truly captured the Halloween spirit this year and everyone is already looking forward to what surprise next year will bring.
