As the school year comes to an end, the Island community is looking forward to the addition of a new class. In an interview with the Log, the Admissions Office explained the qualities they looked for when putting together the Class of 2029. According to Dean of Enrollment Amy Thompson, “We [the admissions team] looked for qualities that align with our mission of the best self and common good. Specifically, we kept an eye out for qualities like integrity, kindness, and curiosity in applicants.”
While the Admissions Office admitted applicants that met such criteria, the new Class of 2029 is anything but homogeneous. It will consist of around 150 students from 25 states and 15 countries, all with different academic goals and extracurricular interests. This admissions cycle was one of the most selective in Loomis’ history, with a record-low admissions rate of 16%.
Even as the Class of ’25 walks down the senior path, bringing a bittersweet feeling to Pelican hearts, graduation also represents a new beginning–an opportunity to give a warm welcome to the Class of 2029!
