The Loomis Chaffee Girls Varsity Golf team is off to a great start this season with a current 9-3 record. The team is composed of nine girls, four of them being freshmen. A typical practice starts at 3:30 directly after school ends. Everyone piles onto a toaster for a 20 minute drive to the Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield, CT, which features 27 holes. Every day for practice, the girls try to get in at least nine holes or more
Fridays are typically the team’s favorite day for practice because they play a “scramble,” a game where only the best-hit balls remain in play. Match days have been very successful this year, with losses only to Choate, Taft, and Hotchkiss, some of the Founders League’s best Girls Golf teams. Olivia Manganiello ’26 said what attributes to the team’s success are the coaches and the girls. “We are led by Ms Kennedy and Coach Bob and they are the best coaches ever!” Manganiello said. “They are so enthusiastic and put their all into the team. I feel lucky to have met all the girls on the team because they bring the energy everyday and make the LC Girls Golf team what it is.” The team continues to work enthusiastically towards their final matches at the Founders League Championships at the Hotchkiss School.
