Anthony Rodriguez ’25, a senior attackman for the nationally ranked Loomis Chaffee Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team, is committed to play Division 1 Lacrosse at Georgetown University, a national powerhouse. For Rodriguez, choosing Georgetown was not a simple decision. Not only was it about finding a place where he could grow as a player, but it was important for him to choose the college that would help him prepare for the next chapter in his life after graduation.
“I picked Georgetown because of how versatile the school is. Not only does the school have a strong academic reputation and an incredible alumni network, but what stood out the most was the coaches who made me feel like I was part of a family,” he said.
Anthony’s journey at Loomis began during his sophomore year, and adjusting to the new environment was challenging. When asked who had supported him during the challenging time, heimmediately credited Coach William Ball, the Loomis Boys Lacrosse head coach, along with his older teammates.
“Coach Ball built a program that’s about more than just winning. He helped build connections around me and created a foundation that helped me grow both on and off the field. Also, the older teammates mentored me and helped me become a better player,” he said.
As Anthony prepares to join Georgetown Hoya men’s lacrosse this fall, he admits that some nervousness surrounds him, but excitement is the biggest emotion he feels. “I know being a D1 athlete is challenging, with intense schedules and workouts, but I’m ready to challenge myself and become a better athlete and a person at the same time,” Rodriguez ’25 stated.
With an exceptional record at Loomis, scoring 35 points as a sophomore and 52 points as a junior, it is clear that Anthony is ready to compete at the next level. With his work ethic and humility, success–both as a student and an athlete–seems close in reach.
