This season, the Loomis Chaffee Ski team embarked on an exciting journey, competing in nine races that tested their skills and resilience. Throughout the season, the team experienced a mix of thrilling highs and challenging lows, ultimately proving their strength and determination on the slopes. Despite facing tough competition, the boys’ team secured an impressive second-place finish overall, while the class team triumphed in the NEPSAC Class B Boys' Championships.
One of the standout performances of the season came from Andrew Purviance ’27, one of the team captains, who delivered an exceptional race at NEPSAC, placing third in the Slalom. “It’s rewarding to see the hard work from the whole team pay off,” Purviance ’27 remarked while reflecting on the season. His dedication was instrumental in the team’s success this year.
New Ski Coach Jessica Chicoski was thrilled with the boys’ performance at NEPSAC and expressed her enthusiasm for the future of the program. “I’m very excited about our boys’ team taking second place at NEPSAC,” she said. “Looking ahead, I’m eager to continue working with the Loomis Chaffee Ski Team. I would love to see even more improvement from our skiers next year, and I’m also excited about the opportunity to bring in new racers.”

Her enthusiasm reflects the positive atmosphere within the team and the anticipation for continued growth next year.
With many new members joining the ski team this season, the dynamic of the group evolved, creating a fresh and exciting energy. The team welcomed eight new and talented skiers who quickly integrated into the tight-knit community. One of these new racers, Lizzie Havens ’27, expressed how she felt about her first season with the team. “As a new racer, I immediately felt accepted into the team. I learned a lot, but most importantly, I had fun,” she said. The welcoming nature of the ski team fosters an environment where both new and returning members can thrive, setting the stage for even greater success in the seasons to come.
Recently, the team wrapped up their Brigham Ski League Championships, held on February 5 and 19. At the Giant Slalom event, Purviance ’27 showcased his skills once again, finishing in fourth place for the boys.
