What says Valentine’s Day more than a “kiss” from your campus senior crush?
Senior Kiss Day, a cherished campus tradition, once again graces the Loomis Chaffee community on Valentine’s Day. This event is not just about embarrassing friends but also about building bridges and strengthening ties within the school community, all while sharing a good laugh.
Senior Kiss Day, run by the Senior Class Officers, represents their efforts to create fun events that brighten up even the most extended winter terms. They campaigned the Senior Kiss Day booth in the dining hall for three days, carefully tallying donation amounts, distributing the lists to seniors, and handing out the chocolate.
Although it appears to be tedious work on the outside, Class Officer Nina Cushman ’25 noted, “I think it was definitely worth it, as everyone seemed to have fun with this annual tradition.”
Valentine's Day is a time to celebrate love, but it's also a time to show compassion and support for those in need. This is why the Class Officers decided to donate to My Sister’s Place—a charity that supports domestic violence victims. By supporting this cause, they hope to lead the LC community in promoting the necessity of healthy love and showing a compassionate spirit.
At its conclusion, Senior Kiss Day raised 1,200 dollars.
Many senior and non-senior students enjoyed the festivities of Senior Kiss Day.
“I was anticipating [the kisses] and they were from my brother’s friends and it was embarrassing,” Lindy Cobery, ’26, said.
Senior Kiss Day is more than just a fun event. It’s a symbol of our community's unity and generosity. It brings together underclassmen who buy the kisses and seniors who give them, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose.
“It was fun to see people I haven’t seen in a while,” Hannah Smith ’25 said, emphasizing that this tradition helps bring the community closer together.
