Chick-fil-A, McDonald’s, or Dunkin’—the options are endless! In quarantine, ordering takeout is the new normal, with a myriad of options for places to deliver. The only question one must ask is: do I want something sweet or savory?

If you’re in the mood for something sugary, I would recommend Dunkin’, Starbucks, or Shake Shack. Dunkin’ serves a variety of coffee, tea, and sandwiches, but my favorite would be the chocolate glazed donuts. You take that first bite, and it just melts in your mouth—mhm! While I’m not a big coffee drinker, their coffee is pretty amazing.

My favorite Starbucks drink would be the passion tango tea with coconut milk. This one isn’t on the menu, but I really enjoy it nonetheless. Don’t forget to ask for less ice so that you get more of the actual drink! Not only that, but the birthday cake pop is a must. A small treat where every day is your birthday.

Lastly, while Shake Shack is known for their scrumptious burgers, their milkshakes are the perfect balance of rich and thick. And, my beloved routine of dipping a french fry into the milkshake is just heavenly. Is that just me? Well, if you haven’t tried soaking your french fry in your milkshake, you should someday. It’s a fast-food must do.

My favorite takeout restaurants for the more savory palate would have to be Chick-fil-A. While Chick-fil-A is known for their mouthwatering nuggets and their Chick-fil-A sauce, my go-to is their spicy chicken sandwich. The bun is the right texture of soft yet not soggy, and the chicken is crunchy with just a hint of spiciness.

I have talked with Maeve Dowd ’23, a freshman living in West Hartford, to get her input on her favorite takeout during quarantine to give all of you another suggestion.

“My favorite restaurant would probably be Bartaco in the West Hartford Center. It’s a very popular restaurant in WeHa. My favorite meal would be the spiced chicken verde (it’s a rice bowl), and also the mojo pork carnitas (tacos). The tacos are not regular tacos, they are really small so you order, like, 3 or 5 of them,” she said.
