On Sunday March 25, 2018, the Winter Sports Banquet was held in Hubbard Auditorium. The event started with Sue Cabot giving opening remarks about how the winter went overall, especially with a new strengthening program fully implemented and used by varsity athletes. Then a slideshow was presented in front of the crowd with a montage of student athletes during their games. All the students and coaches loved the picture slides because it was a wonderful way to reflect on the winter season. Each team went one by one and stood in front of the other student athletes and coaches on stage while their coach reflected on their season’s highs and lows, as well as hand out awards for MVP, Most Improved, and Coach’s Award. Each coach moved efficiently and swiftly throughout their speeches, which helped the flow of the event immensely. It was great to see a diversity of sports played throughout the winter season. From hockey to squash, every student athlete was proud to put on the maroon uniform this past winter and represent Loomis Chaffee to the fullest of their potential. Some great winter season highlights included the Salisbury win for the boy’s hockey team, all of our winter sports teams qualifying for NEPSAC championships, the girl’s hockey team making it to the semi finals, and both the girl’s and boy’s basketball teams winning Founder’s League. Student athlete Elinor Keehn said that the event was, “a great time to spend with my teammates and reflect on the winter season.”
